Doubles Pair Clinches Title During Day Two of Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Duke sophomore doubles duo of Faris Khan and Niroop Vallabhaneni clinched the A2 Draw doubles title to highlight Day Two of the Wake Forest Invite.

The pair secured a 6-3 victory over North Carolina A&T's Esteban Lopez and Eder Blanco to claim the title.

Khan also had a solid day in singles action registering two victories to advance to the A2 singles title match. Khan started out by beating Stetson's Sven Thiergard 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals, before besting the No. 2 seed Robert Maciag of Wake Forest in the semifinals 6-1, 6-2. Khan next faces Juan Lopez De Azcona of Wake Forest in the finals on Sunday.

Vallabhaneni recorded a victory in singles action as well after he battled in a three-set thriller with Yannai Barkai of N.C. State. Barkai earned a 2-6 win in the opening set, but Vallabhaneni rebounded to register 7-6 (5) and 6-1 wins in the second and third frame to secure the quarterfinal win.

Play continues Sunday at Wake Forest University, beginning at 9 a.m.
