WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Duke men's tennis sophomore
Faris Khan clinched his third title this fall after claiming the A2 Draw singles title at the Wake Forest Invite on Sunday.
Â
The Delray Beach, Fla., native bested Juan Lopez De Azcona of Wake Forest 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the final match to hand him his second singles title of the fall (B Draw singles title at Bonk Invite). He also captured the Wake Forest Invite A2 Draw doubles title with teammate
Niroop Vallabhaneni on Saturday.
Â
Connor Krug also earned a win on Sunday to close out the event for the Blue Devils. Krug was familiar with his opponent as he ran into teammate
Arturo Kam in the North Final of the A1 Consolation Draw. Kam recorded a 6-4 triumph in the opening frame, but Krug answered with 6-3 and 6-1 wins in the second and third set to earn the victory.
Â
This weekend's event concluded Duke's fall team schedule. Select Blue Devils will compete at the Duke UTR Open Event, which runs from Nov. 19-21 at Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center.
