DURHAM – Duke men's tennis junior
Andrew Zhang will compete at the 2021 ITA National Fall Championships which is set to begin Thursday at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif.

Zhang, who is participating in the singles competition, will face No. 20 ranked and fifth seeded Matej Vocel of Ohio State in his opening round. That match is slated for 11:30 a.m. PT.

Zhang is coming off an exciting ITA Carolina Regional Championship in which he won the singles title after defeating Wake Forest's Taha Baadi 5-7, 6-1, 6-1.

The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native became the fifth player in program history to earn the singles title, and the first since volunteer assistant coachÂ
Chris Mengel did so in 2011.Â

Ludovic Walter (2003 and 2004) also earned regional singles titles during their time as a Blue Devil.
In a five-day span, Zhang won seven matches, including one against No. 16 ranked Connor Thompson of South Carolina. During that time, he played a total of 16 sets and only dropped two.Â
