DURHAM – Duke football radio crew member John Roth sat down with senior running back Mataeo Durant for a brief question and answer session.
JR:Â I know holidays are a little different in college, but what does Thanksgiving look like in the Durant household? MD:Â We would have the whole family come into town to all eat and laugh together and just have a really good time. We always get all the cousins together. It's a huge group, especially bringing my mom's and dad's side of the family together. The group is really big in numbers.
JR: What are the highlights on the Thanksgiving table for you? MD: I really only like one thing. I don't really like Thanksgiving food a lot, I just like chicken. All I eat when Thanksgiving comes around is chicken. I can do macaroni and cheese and some mashed potatoes, but that's about it.
JR:Â You guys always gather together as a team since you are here for Thanksgiving. What is that time like, a good fellowship time and a good time to be together? MD:Â It's always fun having all the guys together and having a good laugh. It's having your home away from home with you. I enjoy those days where we are able to all get together. Â
JR: You're going into your Senior Day against Miami. What has been on your mind in the days leading up to that? MD: It's been so great. I know its not going to hit me hard until there are zeros on the clock, but I've just been cherishing the moment and being at practice.
JR: What are some of the things you have taken from this particular year even though the record has not been what you wanted it to? MD: Even though the record hasn't been what we wanted, the togetherness within the team we have never fallen apart. We have always been here with each other even through the good and the bad.
JR: We have talked about your drive that led you to playing at Duke, what is your drive like now heading into your Senior Day? MD: The motivation is up. We are ready to go in and have a really good game and end this year with a win.
