Duke Lands Three on CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

DURHAM – Duke wide receiver Jake Bobo, defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, and holder Jackson Hubbard were all named to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District III First Team.
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must be a starter or key reserve, achieve sophomore standing at their current school, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3 and be nominated by his sports information director.
Duke, which has had 31 CoSIDA Academic All-District nods in the last 10 seasons, joined Florida State (one), Notre Dame (one), Virginia (one) and Wake Forest (one) as the only ACC programs with a first team selection this season.
Bobo, a two-time Academic All-District recipient, has played in 43 career games, making 24 starts the last four years. The North Andover, Mass., native has 113 receptions for 1,307 yards and three touchdowns to his name. Bobo currently leads the Blue Devils during his senior season with 660 receiving yards on 62 catches. Of those 71 receptions, 40 have gone for a first down. The senior is currently pursuing a degree in economics and is set to graduate in December 2021.
Carter, a team captain, has seen action in 25 career games, making 12 starts. To his ledger, Carter has 46 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, four caused fumbles, three pass breakups and six quarterback pressures. The redshirt sophomore sits second on the team this season in tackles for loss and sacks, while his four forced fumbles have him tied for third in the nation. Carter is majoring in psychology, minoring in education, and pursuing a certificate in markets and management.
Hubbard has appeared in 45 games. He has served as the program's holder on placement kicks for the last four seasons. The Dallas, Texas, native has been a key component of Duke's placement kicking unit that has gone 144-of-148 (.973) on PATs and 50-of-65 (.769) on field goals since 2018. Hubbard graduated from Duke in May 2021, with a computer science degree and a double minor in statistics and economics. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from Duke.
By virtue of their placement on the all-district team, all three will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees being announced in mid-December.
