DURHAM – The Duke women's golf program will be honored tonight during the Duke football contest against Louisville. Opening kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m., at Wallace Wade Stadium.
The Blue Devils will be recognized as a team, in-between the first and second quarter, for winning the ACC Championship this past April at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Former Duke standout Sarah LeBrun Ingram along with Blue Devil senior Gina Kim will also be honored for helping lead the United States to a 12 ½ to 7 ½ victory over Great Britain and Ireland in the 41st Curtis Cup at Conwy Golf Club in North Wales.
A 1988 Duke graduate, Ingram was the captain for the U.S. squad at the Curtis Cup, while Kim made her first appearance representing the United States on the international stage. Ingram will once again captain the U.S., in the 2022 Curtis Cup at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa., June 10-12.
At the ACC Championship in April, the Blue Devils earned the No. 1 seed heading into match play as Kim became the 14th Duke golfer to win the ACC Individual title, while Anne Chen (4th) and Erica Shepherd (T8th) also placed in the top 10 individually.
Duke defeated Virginia in the semifinals by a 3-2 ledger with victories from Phoebe Brinker, Chen and Kim. In the championship match, all five Blue Devils collected victories leading Duke to a 5-0 win over Florida State to claim the 22nd ACC Championship in school history. It marked the 21st ACC title under the direction of head coach Dan Brooks.
