No. 4 Duke continues a three-game home stand when it welcomes NC State to Koskinen Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 7.
The match is set for 6 p.m. and will air on ACC Network with Alex Perlman and Lori Lindsey on the call.
The Blue Devils will wear pink uniforms in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Fans have a chance to own a pink Duke jersey by submitting a bid at goduke.us/wsocpinkjerseys. The online auction will close at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7, with all proceeds going to the Duke Cancer Institute to help transform cancer prevention and care.
A win on Thursday would be head coach Robbie Church's 100th career ACC regular-season victory. Church is 99-61-33 in conference matches since arriving at Duke in 2001.
The Blue Devils are 6-0-0 at home this season and 42-4-7 at Koskinen since the start of the 2017 campaign.
Duke is coming off a 2-0 home win over Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 2.
Graduate studentLily Nabetand sophomore Maggie Graham each netted their first goal of the season, while junior Ruthie Jones made two saves to collect her third complete-game shutout this year.
Jones leads the ACC in save percentage this season (.848) and has the lowest career goals against average in Duke program history (0.61, min. 20 games played).
Freshman Michelle Cooperand sophomore Olivia Migliare set to return to the lineup after missing the last three matches due to health and safety protocols.
Cooper leads the team with six goals and 15 points this season. She is the first player in program history to score six times over her first six career matches.
Senior Mackenzie Pluck opened her senior campaign with four goals in Duke's first six matches. Pluck has an assist in each of the last two matches, marking the third time in her career she recorded assists in back-to-back games.
DUKE VS. NC STATE
Duke faces its oldest ACC rival on Thursday as the Blue Devils and Wolfpack have met 37 times since their first matchup on Oct. 5, 1988.
The Blue Devils hold a 24-10-3 advantage in the all-time series and are 18-0-2 in their last 20 contests versus NC State.
Duke held a 17-game winning streak in the series from Oct. 24, 2001-Oct. 5, 2017, outscoring the Wolfpack 38-2 during that stretch.
The Blue Devils are 10-5-2 against NC State at Koskinen Stadium and have taken eight of their last nine home matches in the series.
Twenty-three of the 37 all-time matchups between the two have occurred in the month of October.
The most recent contest was a 1-0 Duke win in Raleigh on April 2, 2021. Redshirt senior Mia Gyau broke a scoreless tie in the 61st minute, while the Duke defense held NC State to zero shots on goal.
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
NC State brings a 4-6-2 record into Thursday's matchup, including an 0-4-0 mark in ACC play.
The Wolfpack have dropped their last five matches, but each has been a one-goal difference and three have come against opponents currently ranked in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
NC State previously picked up three straight wins against UNC-Greensboro, Elon and Oklahoma, outscoring those opponents a combined 9-0.
Sophomore Jameese Joseph and junior Jenna Butler lead the team offensively with four goals and nine points each.
Redshirt junior Lulu Guttenberger is tied for 10th in the ACC with four assists this season.
Freshman Maria Echezarreta has started each match in goal, collecting 31 saves. She joined the Wolfpack during the spring of 2021 and made three stops in the matchup against Duke on April 2.
LAST TIME OUT: DUKE 2, SYRACUSE 0
Duke returned home from a three-game road swing and earned a 2-0 win over Syracuse on Saturday, Oct. 2.
Graduate student Lily Nabet got the Blue Devils on the board with her first goal of the season in the 28th minute. Nabet cut off a clearing attempt from the Orange and fired a left-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the net.
It was Nabet's second career goal and her first since Sept. 16, 2018, which was also scored against Syracuse.
Sophomore Maggie Graham tallied Duke's second of the night by pouncing on a rebound off a shot inside the box from senior Mackenzie Pluck at the 55:15 mark.
It was Graham's third career goal and her first marker of the season. She scored twice in last season's 4-0 win over the Orange.
The Blue Devils dominated possession throughout the match and finished with a 27-3 advantage in shot attempts. Fifteen of Duke's 17 shots on goal were stopped by Syracuse goalkeeper Lysianne Proulx.
Junior Ruthie Jones made two saves and picked up her third complete-game shutout of the season.
UNBEATEN AT KOSKINEN
The Blue Devils have enjoyed the friendly confines of Koskinen Stadium this season, going 6-0-0 in home matches with three wins over ranked opponents.
Koskinen has provided one of the best home-field advantages in the nation over the last five seasons, as Duke boasts a 42-4-7 record at the venue since the start of the 2017 campaign.
The Blue Devils have outscored their opponents 20-3 in home matches this season.
The 5-0 win over East Carolina on Sept. 9 marked head coach Robbie Church's 150th career victory at Koskinen Stadium.
Duke has been fueled by hot starts at home this year, scoring nine times in the first half while allowing just one first-half goal by an opponent. The Blue Devils' opening goal in each of their last four home games has been scored in the first 30 minutes.
Duke's last home loss came on Sept. 27, 2020 -- a 2-0 setback against No. 1 North Carolina.
CHURCH SEEKING 100TH ACC WIN
A win against NC State on Thursday would mark 100 career victories in ACC play for head coach Robbie Church.
Church is 99-61-33 in regular-season conference matches since arriving at Duke in 2001.
The winningest coach in program history, Church currently owns a 264-132-60 record in his 21st season at Duke.
Duke has finished in the top five of the ACC standings nine times under Church, earning regular season titles in 2011 and 2017.
He has led Duke to the NCAA Tournament in 17 of the last 18 seasons, including each of the last six years.
