DURHAM – Duke sophomore striker Thorleifur Ulfarsson has picked up two more awards this week, as he was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week and College Soccer News National Player of the Week, as both were announced on Tuesday.
Â
The news comes on the heels of Ulfarsson being named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week on Monday. Ulfarsson is only the second player in the country this season to win the TopDrawerSoccer and College Soccer News' Player of the Week awards in the same week, joining UNCG's Theo Collomb. Ulfarsson is also the second Duke player to win CSN's award this season, joining goalkeeper Eliot Hamill.
Â
Ulfarsson tallied five goals over two games, beginning with a hat trick in a mid-week contest against Howard. Ulfarsson would follow that up with two more goals in a 3-1 win over No. 14 Louisville on Friday.
Â
The Kopavogur, Iceland, native now leads the ACC with seven goals and has 14 points in just five games this season. Ulfarsson has scored in three-straight games for the first time in his collegiate career and has his largest scoring output over a two-game stretch.
Â
The Blue Devils and Ulfarsson will play host to Elon on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium, in the penultimate non-conference game of the season.
