DURHAM – Duke sophomore forward Thorleifur Ulfarsson has been selected as TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week, as announced by the organization on Monday.
Â
Ulfarsson's award comes on the heels of a five-goal week, highlighted by his second career hat trick in a mid-week contest against Howard. The sophomore added two more goals in a 3-1 win over No. 14 Louisville on Friday.
Â
In just five games this season, Ulfarsson has been one of the top strikers in the country and now leads the ACC with seven goals for 14 points. Ulfarsson has scored in three-straight games for the first time in his collegiate career and has his largest scoring output over a two-game stretch.
Â
The Kopavogur, Iceland, native headlines TopDrawerSoccer's Team of the Week, earning that distinction for the second time in his Blue Devil tenure, after being named to the team on March 29, following his first hat trick at Virginia.
Â
The Blue Devils and Ulfarsson will play host to Elon on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Koskinen Stadium, in the penultimate non-conference game of the season.Â
