EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – The Duke men's golf team has its sights set on Long Island this week for the Hamptons Intercollegiate, which begins Monday at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, N.Y.
The 12-team field also includes ACC rivals Georgia Tech and Virginia, along with Cal, Georgetown, George Washington, Liberty, Loyola (Md.), Penn, Princeton, Northwestern and Yale. Loyola is hosting the event at the 6,742-yard, par-72 course on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean with 36 holes of play Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils are paired with Northwestern and George Washington for Monday's action, which begins at 9 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Duke's lineup for the tournament includes senior
Quinn Riley, sophomores
Jimmy Zheng and
Ian Siebers, and freshmen
Luke Sample and
Kelly Chinn. Sophomore
Cameron Martinez-Piedra will play individually.
Duke is one week removed from a fourth-place finish at the Old Town Club Collegiate in Winston-Salem, N.C. Siebers led the way at the OTC with his tied-for-fourth finish that saw the Bellevue, Wash., native card rounds of 65, 70 and 66 for his career-low 201 score.
Siebers' 68.83 leads the Blue Devils on the young season as he has opened with consecutive top-10 finishes at the
Rod Myers Invitational and the Old Town Club Collegiate.
Following the Hamptons Intercollegiate, Duke caps the fall schedule with the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Oct. 22-24 in Alpharetta, Ga.
