DURHAM – Redshirt sophomore punter Porter Wilson was named to the Ray Guy Award "Ray's 8" list following week seven of play, the award announced Monday.
The "Ray's 8" list recognizes eight collegiate punters each week. From the group of four, fans determine which punter should be named Punter of the Week by voting on the Ray Guy Award website.
Wilson, a native of Fairlawn, Ohio, booted five punts for a total of 234 yards, an average of 46.80 yards per punt, in Duke's road contest at Virginia last Saturday. Of Wilson's five punts, one was 50-plus yards and three were pinned inside the 20-yard line. Duke allowed just one punt return yard in the game.
After being a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award a year ago, Wilson was tabbed to the award's preseason watch list heading into the 2021 season and was named to Ray's 8 after week two.
