ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Duke University women's golf junior
Gina Kim closed a very impressive couple of weeks of action in the state of Florida on Saturday by turning in a fourth-place ledger at the South Atlantic Women's Amateur Championship, which took place at the Oceanside Country Club in Ormond Beach, Fla.
Kim, who hails from Chapel Hill, N.C., carded rounds of 73, 73, 72 and 73 for a three-over-par, 291, to finish in sole possession of fourth. After registering an early birdie on the sixth hole, Kim struggled on holes 8-12 with three bogeys and a double-bogey as the winds picked up in the final round. Â
The two-time All-American at Duke closed strong though with a birdie on No. 15, bogey on No. 16, eagle on No. 17 and birdie on No. 18 to move up the leaderboard. Â
Over the four days of play, Kim carded 14 birdies and one eagle. Ellen Hume won the individual title with a four-day score of 283. Â
A week ago, Kim won the Harder Hall Women's Invitational with rounds of 67, 69, 78 and 73 for a one-under-par, 287. Â
