DURHAM, N.C.—The Duke men's soccer program will continue its 2020-21 schedule this spring with nine games, including six ACC contests, spanning from February 12 through April 9. The Blue Devils will host six games at Koskinen Stadium and hit the road three times.
Duke played eight games in the fall portion of the campaign, finishing 2-6 overall. Seven games were against league foes as both of the Blue Devils' wins came against NC State.
Under the direction of head coach
John Kerr, Duke opens the spring with three home non-conference contests in February. The Blue Devils welcome Charlotte to Durham Feb. 12 and host Kentucky and UNC Wilmington, Feb. 19 and Feb. 26, respectively. All three games kick off at 7 p.m.
Duke and Charlotte are meeting for the first time since 2003 as the Blue Devils hold a 12-2 record against the 49ers. Kentucky makes the return trip to Durham after Duke started the fall in Lexington with a 4-2 setback to the Wildcats.
The Blue Devils aim to turn the tables against UNC Wilmington, which won the past four contests from 2012-15.
In ACC play, Duke returns to Coastal Divisional play after a regional based conference schedule in the fall. The Blue Devils open league action at Virginia Tech, March 5, before returning home to host Notre Dame and Pittsburgh, March 12 and 19.
After a two-game road swing at Virginia and NC State, Duke closes out the regular season by hosting Tobacco Road rival North Carolina, Apr. 9.
The spring features only three rematches as Duke played NC State and North Carolina and Pittsburgh in the fall. The Blue Devils' two victories came against NC State, while Pittsburgh won a hard-fought ACC Tournament game by a 2-1 score.
The Blue Devils were led on offense in the fall by senior captain
Jack Doran's three goals, while rookie
Nick Pariano had one goal and three assists. Duke will have a new starting goalkeeper in the spring as four-year starter
Will Pulisic did not return for the spring after graduating in December.
Due to the impact of COVID-19, Duke University will begin its spring sport program seasons without spectators at home events. Contests played on Duke's campus will include essential game management personnel and broadcast media. Traditional parking lots used by fans on game day will be closed.
Dates, opponents and match times for the 2021 spring season are subject to change. All changes will be posted on GoDuke.com and Duke men's soccer social media platforms.
