SAN FRANCISCO – TPC Harding Park in San Francisco is the site of the first major championship on the PGA schedule this season, and a pair of former Duke men's golfers – Kevin Streelman and Adam Long – both in the top 20 of the FedEx Cup standings, tee it up Thursday.
The PGA schedule has been in flux since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, forcing the postponement of the Masters and the U.S. Open and the cancellation of the Open Championship. This weekend's PGA Championship will be the first of three majors over the next four months, with the U.S. Open set for Sept. 17-20 at Winged Foot and The Masters set for Nov. 12-15.
Streelman has enjoyed a strong 2020 season, entering the weekend 19th in the FedEx Cup standings on the strength of four top 10 finishes this season. He was second at the Travelers Championship, second at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am and tied for fourth at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Streelman's $2.5 million won this season is more than just 17 other PGA players.
Streelman is off at 1:31 p.m. ET Thursday, and paired with Matt Jones and Jazz Janewattananond. Long is of at 2:37 p.m. ET and paired with Shawn Warren and Marcus Kinhult.
Long enters the PGA Championship one spot behind his fellow Blue Devil in the FedEx Cup standings on the strength of three top 10 finishes on tour this season. He is coming off a second place showing at the 3M Open, and was tied for second earlier this year at the Mayakoba Golf Classic.
ESPN carries live coverage of the PGA Championship from 4-10 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday. On Saturday, ESPN's coverage airs from 1-4 p.m. ET, with CBS on the air from 4-10 p.m. ET. Sunday's schedule is 12-3 p.m. ET on ESPN and 3-9 p.m. ET on CBS.
