2005 – Men's Basketball –
Christian Laettner and
Brian Davis, members of Duke University's first two national championship basketball teams, announced a $2 million gift to their alma mater to support a men's basketball scholarship and a planned new athletics facility. A scholarship will be endowed with $750,000 of the gift. The joint gift makes the pair the 27th partners of the Legacy Fund, an organization that endows scholarships and provides other support for the basketball program. Each Legacy Fund member has committed at least $1 million to the program.

2012 – Women's Golf –
Celine Boutier shot three-under-par on the final day on her way to cruising to the European Ladies Amateur title at the 5,975-yard, par 71 Diners Club Ljubljana Golf Course in Slovenia.

2015 – Rowing –
Megan Cooke Carcagno was named the second head coach in Duke rowing history, replacing program founder
Robyn Horner, who retired in May of 2015. In her four full seasons at the helm, Cooke Carcagno has been tabbed ACC Coach of the Year twice while guiding the Blue Devils to two NCAA Championship appearances (2016, 2019).

2019 – Women's Basketball –
Miela Goodchild and her native country of Australia won the Silver Medal at the 2019 FIBA World Cup, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Goodchild's squad dropped the gold medal game to the United States, 74-70, in overtime.
July 29
2015 – Softball –
Marissa Young was announced as the first head coach in program history. Since competition began in 2018, Young has led the Blue Devils to a 77-62 overall record, including a 23-4 mark in 2020 before the season was shortened by COVID-19. The Blue Devils earned their first top-25 ranking in program history in 2020. With Young at the helm, Duke has made an appearance in the ACC Tournament since its inaugural season (2018, 2019).

2018 – Women's Basketball –
Chelsea Gray received the starting nod in the 2018 WNBA All-Star game, which was played at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. Gray, a 2013 All-America selection with the Blue Devils, helped her Team Parker squad to a come-from-behind 119-112 victory over Team Delle Donne. The 2016 WNBA champion totaled five points, five rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes of action on the afternoon.
July 30
2006 – Women's Golf –
Jennie Lee and
Amanda Blumenherst helped lead the United States to an 11 ½ to 6 ½ victory at the Curtis Cup, which was played in Bandon, Ore. Lee beat Melissa Reid, 3&2, to clinch the victory.
2014 – Men's Basketball – Duke University alumnus
Grant Hill and his wife, Tamia, announced a gift of $1.25 million to Duke University to support athletics and the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences. Duke Athletics will receive $1 million for facility upgrades; the rest will go to the Duke Annual Fund in support of Trinity College.

2015 – Softball – Alongside her family,
Marissa Young had her introductory press conference as the first head coach for Duke softball with the media. Young answered questions about the process of building a program, recruiting, timeline for softball facilities, etc.

2016 – Women's Golf – After carding rounds of 71, 70, 68 and 75,
Leona Maguire finished as the low amateur at the RICOH Women's British Open at the Woburn Golf Club Marquess Course in Woburn, Buckinghamshire, England July 28-31.

2011 – Women's Basketball –
Elizabeth Williams and the 2011 USA Basketball Women's U19 World Championship Team downed Spain, 69-46, to capture the FIBA U19 World Championship gold medal in Puerto Montt, Chile. Williams netted 15 points, two rebounds and one steal in 21 minutes.

2018 – Men's Basketball – Duke senior men's basketball player
Brennan Besser completed a 3,500-mile bike trip from Seattle to New York City in his quest to raise $1 million for Walk On America. Besser founded the Walk On America campaign to raise money and awareness of the Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) community. He and his sister, Rachel, were compelled to action by the challenges faced every day by their sister Jacqueline, who is non-verbal.
