DURHAM, N.C.—The Duke men's lacrosse program landed seven players on the 2020 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar/Warrior New Balance All-America team. The Blue Devils led all Division I programs with seven selections, while Harvard and High Point both had six apiece.
Garnering the Scholar All-America distinction are
JT Giles-Harris, Terry Lindsay, Sean Lowrie, Joey Manown, Kevin Quigley, Turner Uppgren and
Reilly Walsh. Giles-Harris, Lindsay, Manown, Quigley and Walsh all graduated with bachelor's degrees in May, while Lowrie and Uppgren earned their Masters of Management Studies degrees.
Giles-Harris, an Inside Lacrosse first team All-American, anchored Duke's defense in the abbreviated 2020 season. He led all Blue Devils in caused turnovers and was second among non-faceoff specialists in ground balls. Giles-Harris had at least one ground ball in all eight games and scooped up six in the overtime win against No. 20 Richmond to earn the ACC Defensive Player of the Week award. He also had four caused turnovers versus the Spiders.
Lindsay, a mainstay as a shortstick defensive midfielder, has been the consummate leader for the Blue Devils throughout his career. In 2020, the native of Bethesda, Md., picked up 11 ground balls and recorded four caused turnovers. He also added a pair of goals after not having scored since his rookie season. A team captain, Lindsay is a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection.
A four-year starter on attack, Manown is one of 47 Blue Devils in program history to record 100 career points. In 2020, the Rhode Island native scored 14 goals and added four assists to rank fourth on the team in points. He scored the game-winning goals at No. 8 Denver and No. 11 Loyola. He also is a four-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, posting over a 3.0 GPA every year.
Quigley and Walsh played in every game in the midfield over the past four seasons. Quigley started five games on the first midfield line in 2020 and scored four goals and three assists for seven points. Two of those of those helpers came in the win at No. 11 Loyola. Walsh registered four goals and four assists for eight points, including a crucial one in the overtime win over No. 20 Richmond. Both Walsh and Quigley are three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll recipients.
Lowrie also has been a steady force in the midfield throughout his career. Running on the first midfield for the final three games on 2020, the Foxborough, Mass., native finished the shortened season with six goals and four assists for 10 points. His most important goal came in overtime against No. 20 Richmond as he threw a
Cameron Badour pass into the goal for a victory. He is a four-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member.
Uppgren, Duke's starter in goal the past two seasons, finished the 2020 campaign on a strong note, making a career-high 15 saves in the win at No. 11 Loyola. He made nine first-half saves to hold the Greyhounds to a single goal. He followed that three days later with 10 saves against Jacksonville. Uppgren finished the year with a 12.22 goals against average and a .466 save percentage. An excellent student throughout his career, he is a five-time ACC Academic Honor Roll member.
The Blue Devils finished the 2020 season with a 6-2 record and final ranking of No. 8 from Inside Lacrosse.
