The Duke men's soccer program is excited to welcome a talented group of 10 freshmen to the program this fall. Among this exceptional group that head coach
John Kerr and staff worked so hard on building is
Miguel Ramirez of Lawrenceville, Ga., and a forward for the Atlanta United FC Academy.
Ramirez has most recently played for Atlanta United FC Academy before the season came to a stop due to COVID-19
. The striker played in 16 games with 13 starts for Atlanta United in 2019-20 and scored four goals.
Prior to his time with Atlanta United, Ramirez was a member of the Concorde Fire U16-17 Academy squad. The club went 14-10-4 during the regular season as he scored 18 goals. In the playoff, Ramirez was instrumental in the Concorde Fire advancing to the title match of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Finals where he won the Golden Boot as the player with the most goals. In his single season with the Concorde Fire, Ramirez started 32 of the 33 games and scored 22 goals.
Ramirez also played a season with United Football Academy and Georgia United. Overall, in his Academy career, the 5-9 striker scored 43 goals in 110 games. He also has trained with the Atlanta United 2 team.

Miguel Ramirez:Â Ever since I was little, I always saw Duke as the best school both in academics and athletics. Even if I don't achieve my goal of playing professionally, a degree from Duke is something that will be with me all through my life, opening doors and various careers.

GD: What is a fun fact about you?
MR: Won the golden boot at the DA playoffs for having the most goals and unfortunately lost the finals.

GD: What International Club do you follow?
MR:Â Real Madrid

GD: Who is your favorite International player and why?
MR:Â Ronaldo- I love the will, hunger and passion he has for the game.

GD: Who is your favorite U.S. player and why?
MR:Â Sergiño Dest. Although he's young, he's easily one of the best

GD: What is your first soccer memory?
MR:Â My first soccer memory is when I was on a local team called Silverbacks and at the end of every season there would be an All-Star game. Not everyone would get invited to the All Star game therefore I would feel like I was the best.

GD: Meeting this person would leave you speechless?
MR:Â Bad Bunny, my favorite artist by far. If it had to be an athlete it would be Ronaldo.

GD: What are the last three series or shows you've watched?
MR:Â I don't watch Netflix.
