DURHAM, N.C. – Episode eight of the Blue Devil 360 Inside Duke Athletics podcast hosted by Chris Edwards and Rebecca Fiorentino is out now. The podcast will be released biweekly on Thursdays with various guests.
This week on the podcast, Fiorentino chats with Senior Associate Director of Athletics/Student-Athlete Development/Senior Woman Administrator Jacki Silar prior to her retirement at the end of June.
After four decades of service as both a coach and administrator at Duke since her arrival in 1979, Silar has served as an assistant women's basketball coach, spent 15 seasons as the head field hockey coach before going on to have an administrative role with 24 head coaches.
Silar is also the lone Senior Woman Administrator in Duke Athletics history, holding the post since its inception in the '90s.
Silar and Fiorentino talk about her transition from coaching to administration, how the athletic department has evolved in the 41 years she's been at Duke and advice she has for future student-athletes, coaches and administrators.
