DURHAM, N.C. – After an Olympic redshirt season in 2019-20,
Matt Finesilver is back for his junior campaign and heads into the new year ranked 12th at 174 pounds by FloWrestling.

Finesilver has qualified for the NCAA tournament in each of his opening two seasons at Duke. He closed out his sophomore year in 2018-19 ranking second on the team in wins with a 25-9 overall record and was the ACC runner-up at 174 pounds. The Greenwood Village, Colo., native compiled 37 points that season to rank second on the team as well.

He recorded 14 bonus point victories, six of which came in dual matches, and earned ACC victories against Virginia, Pittsburgh and North Carolina. Finesilver won the Hokie Open at 174 pounds, while finishing as the runner-up at the Keystone Classic and fifth at the Southern Scuffle.

During 2017-18, his first season in Durham, Finesilver became the fourth Duke true freshman to qualify for the NCAA Championships. He concluded that season posting a 26-11 overall record and went 10-1 in duals and 4-1 against ACC foes. Finesilver won the freshman and sophomore division of the Hokie Open in his first collegiate action, while also garnering fifth at the Keystone Classic and eighth at the Southern Scuffle that year.

Finesilver is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team member and was tabbed a 2018-19 NWCA Scholar All-America as well.
