DURHAM, N.C. – Recent Duke swimming and diving graduate
Nathaniel Hernandez has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) 2020 Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team First Team, as announced by the organization Thursday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the Academic All-America ballot. The Division I honorees will be announced June 19.
One of 10 male student-athletes selected to the NCAA Division I All-District III team, Hernandez was joined by fellow Blue Devils
Eoin Gronningsater (fencing) and
Chandler Eaton (men's golf).
Jaravee Boonchant (women's golf), earned a spot on the women's team.

A five-time CSCAA All-America selection, Hernandez enjoyed a storied career on the Duke diving boards. The Southlake, Texas native was a four-time NCAA qualifier, four-time ACC Diver of the Week and finished his career second all-time at Duke in all three diving events. Prior to the abrupt cancelation of the 2020 season, Hernandez was slated to compete at the 2020 NCAA Championships in all three diving events for the second consecutive year.

At the yearly team awards, Hernandez was honored with the men's diving Most Outstanding Performance Award for his fourth-place finish at the ACC Championships in three-meter diving.

Academically, Hernandez was a four-time All-ACC Academic and two-time First Team CSCAA Scholar All-America selection.
Â
Hernandez graduated from Duke in May. He earned a 3.67 GPA while graduating with a degree in biology and two minors in chemistry and psychology. Receiving a postgraduate scholarship from the ACC, Hernandez will use the scholarship to pursue a graduate degree at Duke.
