DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off a solid senior campaign at Sierra Canyon High School, Duke incoming freshman Vanessa De Jesus has received numerous honors since the season has come to a close.
De Jesus, a 5-8 guard out of Valencia, Calif., averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals as a senior. She collected seven games with 20 or more points, including a season-high 32 points at Long Beach Poly.
The incoming point guard was selected Daily News All-Area First Team, Gold Coast League MVP, All-CIF Open Division First Team, All-Gold Coast League and Los Angeles Times All-Star Girls Basketball Team.
Over the last three years, De Jesus helped lead Sierra Canyon to an 81-17 record, including the State Championship as a sophomore with a 33-1 mark. She was the All-CIF Southern Section Co-Player of the Year in 2019.
In 2019-20, Sierra Canyon collected a 25-7 ledger and tied Windward for the league title. Sierra Canyon fell in the first round of the CIF State Open Division playoffs.
De Jesus is ranked No. 37 in the 2020 HoopGurlz recruiting rankings.
