DURHAM, N.C. – Coming off a solid senior campaign at Sierra Canyon High School, Duke incoming freshman Vanessa De Jesus has received numerous honors since the season has come to a close.
De Jesus, a 5-8 guard out of Valencia, Calif., averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.0 steals as a senior. She collected seven games with 20 or more points, including a season-high 32 points at Long Beach Poly.
The incoming point guard was selected Daily News All-Area First Team, Gold Coast League MVP, All-CIF Open Division First Team, All-Gold Coast League and Los Angeles Times All-Star Girls Basketball Team.
Over the last three years, De Jesus helped lead Sierra Canyon to an 81-17 record, including the State Championship as a sophomore with a 33-1 mark. She was the All-CIF Southern Section Co-Player of the Year in 2019. Â
In 2019-20, Sierra Canyon collected a 25-7 ledger and tied Windward for the league title. Sierra Canyon fell in the first round of the CIF State Open Division playoffs. Â
De Jesus is ranked No. 37 in the 2020 HoopGurlz recruiting rankings. Â
