DURHAM, N.C. — The Duke women's basketball team will begin the 2026-27 season ranked as a top five team as the Associated Press tabbed the Blue Devils fourth in the AP Preseason Top 25 poll.Â
South Carolina sits atop the rankings with 23 first-place votes, while UConn comes in at No. 2 and USC at No. 3.Â
The No. 4 ranking is the highest ranking for a Blue Devil team coming into a season since being ranked second in the 2013-14 AP preseason poll. The fourth spot is the highest for Duke since week 14 of that same season.Â
Recently picked as the preseason favorite to win the ACC, the Blue Devils will face nine teams in the AP Top 25, including five in the top seven. Toby Fournier, an AP All-American as a sophomore, garnered preseason All-ACC honors, while Bella Flemings and Autumn Fleary were voted to the conference's preseason All-Freshman squad landed on the Preseason All-ACC squad.
The Blue Devils enter the 2026-27 season as the reigning ACC regular season and tournament champions, capturing both trophies for the first time since 2013. Overall, Duke returns three starters and nine players from last year's ACC Championship team and welcomes the return of the 2025 fourth-ranked recruit Emilee Skinner from injury. Additionally, head coach Kara Lawson welcomed Texas transfer and the No. 5 recruit from the 2025 class Aaliyah Crump along with the talented freshman group.Â
Â
The Blue Devils open the 2026-27 season Nov. 3 against Green Bay. Tipoff inside Cameron Indoor Stadium is set for 7 p.m., on ACCNX.Â
