DURHAM, N.C. – Duke swimming and diving head coach
Dan Colella announced the incoming freshman class for the 2020-21 season. With the announcement, GoDuke.com will be highlighting all 15 signees in the coming weeks.

Sarah Foley will make the trek from Philadelphia to Durham following her graduation at William Penn Charter School.

"I chose Duke not only because of the amazing combination of athletics and academics, but also because of the strong bond between teammates," Foley said. "When I visited Duke, I knew that I would flourish in and out of the pool and find a second family."

Foley has enjoyed a plethora of success at William Penn Charter throughout her three years under head coach Crystal Keelan. She was an eight-time All-America selection and a three-time Team MVP. Foley holds three pool records at the Franklin and Marshall.

She capped off her high school career with a stellar senior campaign. Foley was named the Easterns Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Female Swimmer of the Meet and Inter-AC League MVP. In addition, she set the Easterns Meet records in the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke.

As a junior, Foley was a finalist at nationals and qualified for the Olympic Trails in the 200 breaststroke. She was named First Team All-Inter-AC League for the second consecutive season and placed in the top 100 at the 18&U World meet. During her sophomore season, Foley was a finalist in the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the Junior Nationals.

Prior to her time at William Penn Charter, Foley spent three years living and competing in France. While in France, she competed at the French Junior National Championships three times and was the 50 and 100 breaststroke French Junior National Champion in 2017.

Out of the pool, Foley earned high honors every year of high school and earned magna cum laude status on her National Latin Exam.

Born Sarah Elizabeth Foley to parents Meghan and Brian Foley on March 22, 2002 in Philadelphia, Pa., Foley is the oldest of four. She has two brothers, James and Patrick, and one sister, Margaret.
