DURHAM, N.C. – Nearing the end of the countdown, Duke softball announces its fourth-best top moment of its 2020 season.
MOMENT NO. 4 | JACOBSEN GOES OFF, BREAKS RECORD
During Duke's two run-rule victories against USC Upstate on Wednesday, March 4, sophomore
Caroline Jacobsen sent three of the Blue Devils' six home runs out of the park. Jacobsen tied the season record in game one with a two-run homer to left field before shattering it in her first at-bat in game two with another two-run blast. The Tallahassee native hit her third bomb of the day with a solo shot in the fourth inning.
Jacobsen finished the afternoon going 3-for-5 with three homers, four runs scored, six runs batted in and a walk. Duke garnered 13 hits to take game one, 11-2, before shutting out the Spartans in the second contest with a 10-0 victory.Â

CAROLINE'S REFLECTION
"I don't think I would've realized that I had broken the record then if they [PA] hadn't announced it. Obviously, that's a really cool feeling but it's more so a testament to the team that we were becoming this year. Across the board, we were putting up bigger offensive numbers in a partial season than we had in full seasons. For me, I was able to hit as many home runs as my freshman year in a lot less games. It just shows how much we've grown as a team and how great our team will be in the coming years."
