DURHAM, N.C. – Continuing its top moments of the 2020 season, Duke softball reveals the sixth-best play of the campaign.
MOMENT NO. 6 | KAVEL ROBS HOME RUN
With one out and one runner on in the top of the third, Duke looked to maintain its 2-0 lead against Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish's Brooke Marquez sent a ball deep to left field, hoping to even the game at 2-2, but junior
Jameson Kavel was there to rob the home run and keep Duke out in front.
The Blue Devils scored their only two runs in the first but couldn't hold off the Irish who scored five in the fifth inning and one in the sixth to win the season's first conference game, 6-2. Kavel notched one of Duke's six hits and brought in one run.

JAMESON'S REFLECTION
"We always match up very well against Notre Dame and knew it was going to be a battle between pitchers. Once I saw it in the air, I knew that I had to catch it for Peyton [St. George], because she was giving it all she had out there. After I caught it, I almost forgot about the runner at second, because I was so excited to finally rob a home run in a Duke uniform. Once I threw the ball in, it was a great moment to celebrate with my team and stay in the lead."
