The Duke women's golf program has won 21 ACC Championships in program history. Head coach Dan Brooks has guided the Blue Devils to 20 of the 21 titles. Over the next couple of weeks, Duke will look back at each championship.Â
DURHAM, N.C.-- Duke carded rounds of 301, 294 and 295 on its way to posting a three-day ledger of 891 to win the 1996 ACC Women's Golf Championship. After being down four strokes after round one to Wake Forest, the Blue Devils shot back-to-back team-best rounds to win the title by eight strokes ahead of the Demon Deacons. Â
Freshman Jenny Chuasiriporn won the individual title with rounds of 73, 72 and 72 for a one-over-par, 217. Katharina Poppmeier was tied for second, while Alicia Allison (4th), Liz Lepanto (8th) and Filippa Hansson (10th) placed in the top 10. Â
The championship was Duke's fourth in school history and the third under the direction of Blue Devil head coach
Dan Brooks. Chuasiriporn was the third Duke golfer to win the ACC individual title. Â
