1996 – Men's Soccer – The Dallas Burn made its MLS debut with former Blue Devils Jason Kreis and John Kerr. Kreis started 29 of 31 games in 1996, scoring 13 goals and five assists in the inaugural season. He went on to play nine seasons with the Dallas Burn and earned MLS MVP honors – the first American born player to do so – after he led the league in goals and points. Kerr played in 12 games with 10 starting assignments for the club that season and had three goals and an assist.
1996 – Women's Golf – Duke carded rounds of 301, 294 and 295 on its way to posting a three-day ledger of 891 to win the ACC Championship. After being down four strokes after round one to Wake Forest, the Blue Devils shot back-to-back team-best rounds to win the title by eight strokes ahead of the Demon Deacons.
Jenny Chuasiriporn won the individual title with rounds of 73, 72 and 72 for a one-over-par, 217. Katharina Poppmeier was tied for second, while Alicia Allison (4th), Liz Lepanto (8th) and Filippa Hansson (10th) placed in the top 10.
2014 – Women's Basketball – For the third time in school history, Duke women's basketball featured two selections in the 2014 WNBA Draft with seniors Chelsea Gray and Tricia Liston being selected with the 11th and 12th picks, respectively, at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
Gray and Liston were taken with back-to-back selections as Gray was taken by the Connecticut Sun with the 11th overall selection, while Liston was nabbed with the 12th pick by the Minnesota Lynx to close the first round. The two other times Duke featured multiple first round draft selections were in 2007 with Lindsey Harding (1st) and Alison Bales (9th) and in 2004 with Alana Beard (2nd) and Iciss Tillis (11th).
April 15
2007 – Women's Golf – For the 12th straight year and the 15th time in school history, the Duke women's golf team has claimed the ACC Championship as the Blue Devils carded a 54-hole total of 873 to win by 35 strokes at the Par 72, 6,293-Yard Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. Blue Devil sophomore Amanda Blumenherst became Duke's third back-to-back individual champion as she carded a final round 74 and a three-day total of 212 to win the title.
2012 – Women's Golf – Since moving the ACC Championship to the Sedgefield Country Club in 2009, the Duke women's golf team saw its 13-year streak of titles come to an end for three consecutive years. The Blue Devils snapped that streak on in 2012 as ninth-ranked Duke registered a 10-stroke victory to claim its 17th overall ACC Championship, while Lindy Duncan won the individual title by six strokes at the 6,163-Yard, Par 71 Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
2017 – Women's Golf – For the 20th time in school history, the Duke women's golf program won an ACC Championship as the Blue Devils turned in a five-under-par 54-hole ledger of 859 to win by nine strokes at the 6,192-yard, par 72 The Reserve Golf Club in Pawleys Island, S.C. Duke junior Leona Maguire claimed individual medalist honors for the second time over the last three years as she carded a six-under-par, 210, to win by two strokes. As a team, Duke registered rounds of 284, 286 and 289 over three days for an 859 ledger.
April 16
1994 – Women's Golf – Duke women's golf sophomore Kathi Poppmeier carded rounds of 71, 75 and 75 for a three-day ledger of 221 to claim the ACC Individual Championship at the Old North State Golf Club in New London, N.C.
2000 – Women's Golf – Led by freshman Maria Garcia-Estrada, the Duke women's golf team finished its run to the championship by winning the ACC Championship by 36 strokes at the 6,355-yard, par-72 Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C.
The Blue Devils (295-286-290=871), who broke the previous 54-hole team total of 890 by 19 strokes in the tournament. Estrada became the third-straight freshman to capture the ACC individual title as she finished at 1-under-par 76-67-72=215. She was followed in the individual standings by a pair of Blue Devils tied for second place including sophomore Beth Bauer (73-72-72=217) and Candy Hannemann, who finished at 70-74-73=217.
2006 – Women's Golf – For the 11th straight year the Duke women's golf team claimed the ACC Championship in 2006 as the Blue Devils carded a 54-hole total of 885 to win by 19 strokes at the Par 72, 6,293-Yard Pinehurst #8 Golf Course in Pinehurst, N.C. Freshman Amanda Blumenherst became Duke's 12th ACC Individual Champion as she carded a total of 212 to win by seven strokes.
2012 – Wrestling –Glen Lanham, a two-time All-American at Oklahoma State, was named Duke's head wrestling coach. In his eight seasons at the helm, Lanham has turned around the Blue Devil program. He has coached three wrestlers to six All-America honors, mentored 13 wrestlers to 27 NCAA qualifying appearances, helped three wrestlers to four ACC Championship titles, and coached six wrestlers to 12 All-ACC honors. Lanham has also forced his teams to excel in the classroom, having guided 13 wrestlers to 21 NWCA All-Academic honors. In six of his last eight years, Duke finished 32nd or better at NCAA championships, while sending multiple qualifiers to the NCAA Championships in seven of his last eight seasons.
2015 – Women's Basketball – For the fourth time in school history, the Duke University women's basketball program featured a top-five selection in the WNBA Draft as Elizabeth Williams was taken with the No. 4 pick in the first round by Connecticut Sun in 2015 at the at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
April 17
1993 – Women's Golf – Duke women's golf captured the ACC Championship with rounds of 300, 304 and 316 for a 54-hole score of 920. The Blue Devils featured three in the top 10 with Stephanie Sparks (2nd), Tonya Blosser (T4th) and Katharina Poppmeier (8th).
2004 – Women's Basketball – Duke women's basketball seniors Alana Beard and Iciss Tillis were both taken in the top-11 of the 2004 WNBA Draft on April 17, 2004 at the NBA Entertainment Studios in Secaucus, N.J. Beard became the highest player to be drafted from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as she was selected with the second overall pick by the Washington Mystics, while Tilils went to the Detroit Shock with the 11th pick.
2005 – Men's Golf – Led by individual medalist Ryan Blaum, Duke claimed the program's sixth ACC Championship by shooting a six-under 282 as a team in the final round to hold off the field. The Blue Devils totaled a one-over 865 for the tournament, with Blaum winning at 10-under 213 – a record score by a Blue Devils in the ACC Championship. The 2005 title marked the program's first ACC crown since 1996. Duke has won twice more since (2013 and 2017).
2005 – Women's Golf – The top-ranked Duke women's golf team claimed its 10th straight ACC Championship in record fashion as the Blue Devils won by an ACC-record 47 strokes at the 6,318-Yard, Par 72 Carmel Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. The Blue Devils shot a four-over-par score of 292 on the final day and finished with a three-day total of 886.
Duke sophomore Brittany Lang claimed her second straight individual ACC Championship as she registered a final round 70 on her way to finishing with a 54-hole total of 219. Lang, a product of McKinney, Texas, became only the second golfer in ACC history to notch back-to-back ACC Individual titles.
2016 – Men's Lacrosse – Senior Deemer Class scored five goals to break the Duke single-season goals record for a midfielder with 41. He became only the third midfielder in Duke history to score 40-plus goals in a season. His five goals that afternoon lifted the Blue Devils to a 14-8 victory over Virginia. Class went on to become the first Duke midfielder to score 50 goals in a season.
April 18
1999 – Women's Golf – Freshman Beth Bauer claimed the individual ACC Championship with rounds of 71, 73 and 72 for a 216, while Duke women's golf won the team title with rounds of 291, 301 and 298 for an 890. The tournament was played at the Grandover East Golf Club in Greensboro, N.C.
1999 – Men's Golf – Matt Krauss rebounded from an opening-round 75 to close with rounds of 68 and 69 and claim individual medalist honors at the 1999 ACC Championship at the Old North State Club. Kraus' four-under total of 212 gave the Blue Devils an individual ACC champion for the first time since the 1990 season.
2004 – Women's Golf – Duke women's golf won the ACC Championship with rounds of 279, 286 and 273, while Brittany Lang registered three straight rounds in the 60s to win the ACC individual crown with a nine-under-par, 204, at the Salem Glen Country Club in Clemmons, N.C.
2015 – Women's Golf – For the 17th time in Duke history, a Blue Devil golfer claimed the ACC Individual Championship as freshman Leona Maguire registered a birdie on the 29th hole of the day to win the title in a playoff against Virginia senior Briana Mao at the 6,089-yard, par 72 Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
Maguire, who is a native of Cavan, Ireland, turned in a final round 70 on her way to carding a 10-under-par, 206, over the 54 holes. She finished in a tie with Mao, who registered a five-under, 67, in the final round. Maguire became the 13th Duke golfer to win the title and is the eighth freshman in school history to win honors.
April 19
1998 – Women's Golf – Duke captured the ACC team title at the Grandover East Golf Club in Greensboro, N.C., with rounds of 305, 301 and 297 for a 903. Jenny Chuasiriporn (2nd), Alicia Allison (3rd) Kalen Anderson (5th) and Filippa Hansson (T6th) were all in the top six individually.
2014 – Women's Golf – For the third straight year and the 19th time in school history, the Duke women's golf program took home the ACC Championship in 2014 as the Blue Devils battled through unseasonably cool temperatures and intermittent rain showers at the 6,107-yard, par 71 Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Sophomore Celine Boutier claimed the ACC Individual title with a three-day ledger of 210, which marked her third straight individual title this spring.
