SETTING THE SCENE
- Duke is coming off a 2-0 weekend, beating No. 20 Richmond in overtime and Furman with ease. The Blue Devils inched up a spot to 12 in the USILA poll after improving to 4-2.
- Loyola is 4-1 overall and ranked 11th. The Greyhounds' loss was to Virginia in the season opener.
THE SERIES HISTORY
- Duke and Loyola are meeting for the 34th time and for the 15th straight season. The Blue Devils lead the series 21-12 overall and 19-11 in regular season matchups.
- Duke has won five of the previous six outings, winning by an average of 6.4 goals per game. Loyola's last win came in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, while the last time the Greyhounds won in regulation was in 2014.

DYSON WILLIAMS AND JT GILES-HARRIS EARN HONORS
- JT Giles-Harris and Dyson Williams were named the ACC Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week for their efforts in Duke's 2-0 weekend.
- Giles-Harris collected nine ground balls and five caused turnovers and scored a goal in the two games, while Williams had an incredible 11 goals. Both were outstanding in the overtime win against Richmond. Giles-Harris anchored the defense with a career-high six ground balls and four caused turnovers and Williams threw in seven goals - the most by a Blue Devil attackman since 2008.
LAST TIME OUT
- Fourteen different Blue Devils scored at least a goal, lifting No. 13 Duke to a 19-6 victory over Furman Sunday. Dyson Williams had four goals as Duke raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first 17:14.
- Defensively, the Blue Devils were excellent throughout the game and especially in the first half as Furman managed just 10 shots and one goal in the opening 30 minutes.
LAST TIME WE MET
- Nakeie Montgomery and Joey Manown combined for eight goals and Turner Uppgren made 10 saves as the No. 5 Blue Devils upended second-ranked Loyola 12-7 in a top-five matchup last season.
- Defensively, Duke held the nation's leading scorer Pat Spencer to just three points and the country's top goal scorer in Kevin Lindley to zero goals. Coming into the game, Spencer was averaging 7.40 points per game, while Lindley was scoring five goals per game.
- Montgomery and Manown both had four goals apiece, while senior attackman Brad Smith had two goals and three assists in the victory.
WHAT GIVES
- Saturday's matchup will feature a faceoff of Duke's high scoring offense and Loyola's stingy defense. Duke has scored at least 11 goals in every game and netted 15-plus four times. The Blue Devils rank 13th nationally with a 15.17 goals per game average.
- Loyola, around its own crease, has allowed opponents to score double digits just twice. The Greyhounds are holding their foes to just 7.80 goals, ranking fourth among DI teams.
- In the past five meetings, Duke is averaging 13.2 goals per game. The last time the Blue Devils failed to score double digits was a 14-7 setback in 2014.
LOYOLA AND DUKE SINCE 2000
- Since Duke and Loyola renewed the rivalry in 2000, 21 of the 23 games have been top-20 clashes. The Greyhounds were unranked in 2005 and Duke was out of the top 20 in 2013. The Blue Devils have been the lower ranked team eight times, posting a 5-3 record.
LOOKING AT DUKE
- Duke is 4-2 and ranked 12th after two wins last weekend. The Blue Devils' balanced offense is led by freshman Dyson Williams with 23 points (20g, 3a). Sophomore Owen Caputo has 20 points and Joey Manown and Cameron Badour have 15 points. Twenty-two Duke players have at least one goal.
- A young defensive corps continues to grow and gel. JT Giles-Harris is the anchor on defense, drawing the toughest matchup. He has 18 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Rookie Kenny Brower is the first true freshman to start on close defense since Giles-Harris. Sophomore Frank Marinello has started three games to round out the trio on the crease.
- A host of short stick defensive middies and long poles bolster the improving defense. Terry Lindsay is a four-year starter, while Blake Leischow is back for his second season as regular in the SSDM role. Matt Chmil and Jake Caputo are the newcomers to the role, while Braden Burke and Tyler Carpenter shine in the LSM role.
- Jordan Ginder and Joe Stein are solid at the faceoff X. They are winning 58 percent of the draws and have picked up 54 ground balls on 97 wins.
- Turner Uppgren has started five contests and owns a 14.01 goals against average and a .392 save percentage. Andrew Bonafede earned his first start versus Furman and has 20 saves and an 8.66 goals against average and a .476 save percentage. He is 3-0 in games this season.
SCOUTING LOYOLA
- Loyola heads into Saturday with a 4-1 overall record and ranked 11th nationally. The loss came against then No. 1 Virginia by a 12-9 score in the season opener.
- Junior Aidan Olmstead is the top point scorer with 21 (10g, 11a), while Kevin Lindley is the go to scorer with 17 tallies. Lindley most recently had six goals against Lafayette. The Greyhounds are averaging 49 shots per game, but averaging just 11.8 goals per game. Their .241 shot percentage is 64th nationally.
- Ryan McNulty recently was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, recording seven caused turnovers and 13 ground balls in a pair of games. The LSM has two goals and two assists through five games and 20 ground balls and nine caused turnovers. In goal, Sam Shafer has started all five games and owns a 7.87 goals against average and a .593 save percentage, 10th nationally.
- At the faceoff X, Bailey Savio has taken all but nine draws and won 74 for a .705 win percentage. He's ranked sixth nationally at the faceoff and seventh in ground balls (10.20/gm).
