DURHAM, N.C. – Duke women's tennis senior
Meible Chi was selected one of five finalists for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award, the association announced.
The ITA Ann Lebedeff Leadership Award, endowed by King, was created to honor a recent college graduate who played college tennis and demonstrated excellence on and off the court, leadership on his or her team as well as on his or her college campus and in his or her community. The recipient of the award will have demonstrated grit, a commitment to social justice and equality and will have pushed others to be leaders in addition to demonstrating his or her own leadership.
Chi has demonstrated exceptional leadership traits on and off the tennis court throughout her four years as a Blue Devil.
As the team's elected captain for the 2020 season, Chi was also on several leadership committees and groups on campus. As a member of Duke's L.E.A.D program, Chi was nominated by the coaching staff to attend workshops focused on athletic leadership.
As a member of the Collegiate Athlete Premedical Experience (CAPE), Chi was Selected to participate in a program designed to support female student athletes interested in medicine.
In the summer of 2018, Chi traveled to China with Duke's Student-Athlete Civic Engagement program (ACE) and now serves as an ACE Ambassador.
