DURHAM, N.C. – Rising Duke men's golf seniors
Evan Katz and
Adrien Pendaries have been named to the 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup teams. Katz will represent the United States, while Pendaries will represent the Internationals July 3-5 at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland.
While the 24-member United States and International squads have been announced, the postponement or cancellation of the event is still a possibility with the growing threat of the Coronavirus. The event is a Ryder Cup-style tournament featuring the top men's and women's college golfers matching the United States against a team of International players.
Duke is the only program with a men's golfer on both the United States and International teams in 2020.
A native of Washington, D.C., Katz will play for the Americans, along with fellow women's golf team member
Gina Kim, with Duke women's golf head coach
Dan Brooks serving as the United States head coach. The Internationals are comprised of 15 different countries, including the French-native Pendaries.
This marks the second straight season and fifth time in history the Blue Devils have been represented at the Arnold Palmer Cup. Former golfer
Alex Smalley competed for the United States side last season, with
Ryan Blaum playing for the U.S. in 2005 and 2006. Former head coach
Rod Myers served as coach in 1998.
