DURHAM, N.C. – The final Golfweek Individual rankings have been released with two Duke women's golfers closing the shortened season ranked in the top 14 nationally. Senior
Ana Belac was the top-rated senior at No. 3, while junior
Jaravee Boonchant was No. 14.
Duke was one of only two programs nationally to feature two golfers in the top 14 of the rankings.
Belac, a product of Portoroz, Slovenia, had collected a 71.85 stroke average in five events in the abbreviated season. She collected two top-five, three top-10 and four top-20 finishes on the year. She turned in her second collegiate victory at the East Lake Cup as she birdied five of her final seven holes on her way to logging a three-under-par, 69, to finish in a tie for first.
The two-time All-America collected two rounds in the 60s and a total of eight even or under par rounds out of 13. In one of the top fields in the nation at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, Belac tied for fifth with rounds of 74, 66 and 70 for a three-under-par, 210. The tournament featured nine top 10 teams.
Boonchant posted a 72.31 stroke average over 13 rounds with the Blue Devils as a junior. She registered two top-five and three top-10 finishes in five tournaments. Boonchant, who hails from Bangkok, Thailand, led the Blue Devils with nine rounds of even or under par and had a season-best six-under-par, 66, at the Tar Heel Invitational.
During a three-tournament stretch, Boonchant placed in the top six of each of them. The two-time All-America was tied for sixth at the Windy City Classic, tied for third at the Tar Heel Invitational and tied for fourth at the East Lake Cup.
Duke also had sophomore
Gina Kim (No. 46) and junior
Miranda Wang (No. 106) ranked in the top 110 nationally.
The Blue Devils concluded the 2019-20 campaign with one victory, two third place finishes and were first in stroke play qualifying at the East Lake Cup, while ranking No. 4 nationally under head coach
