Gorecki Tabbed Honorable Mention AP All-America

DURHAM, N.C. – Following the completion of one of the best individual seasons in Duke history, graduate Haley Gorecki was voted Honorable Mention Associated Press All-America Thursday, following a vote from Associated Press writers. Â
Gorecki, a native of Palatine, Ill., was the only student-athlete in power five conferences to average over 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals. She collected seven double-doubles and 12 contests with 20 or more points for the Blue Devils, which ranked second in the ACC. On the year, Gorecki averaged 18.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.1 steals. Â
An All-ACC First Team and All-ACC Defensive Team honoree, Gorecki is also one of five finalists for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award for the top shooting guard in the nation. The winner of this award will be determined by a combination of fan votes and input from the Basketball Hall of Fame's selection committee. By visiting hoophallawards.com, fans have the ability to vote for who they think should win. The voting will run until Friday, March 27. The player that wins the fan voting will receive one additional vote for the award.
A 6-1 guard, Gorecki ranked in the top 20 in numerous ACC categories including second in scoring (18.5), second in steals (2.1), seventh in assists (4.4), third in free throw percentage (85.6), 18th in rebounds (6.6), third in minutes played (36.4), eighth in three-point field goals made (2.0) and seventh in three-point field goal percentage (33.7). Â
Gorecki helped lead Duke to an 18-12 overall record and the best turnaround among power five conferences as the Blue Devils started 1-3 in the ACC, before finishing 12-6. Â
