DURHAM, N.C. – A number of former Duke women's soccer stars are set to begin their professional preseasons, as several Blue Devils were named to preseason rosters.
Imani Dorsey (Sky Blue FC),
Kayla McCoy (Houston Dash),
Rebecca Quinn (OL Reign),
Morgan Reid (Orlando Pride) and
Ella Stevens (Chicago Red Stars) were all tabbed to their club's respective opening day rosters, while former Duke standout
Rebecca Moros is set to begin her professional coaching career.
Dorsey, the 2018 NWSL Rookie of the Year, begins her third season in the professional ranks after a solid first two campaigns. In her second year with Sky Blue FC, she appeared in 23 of the 24 regular season games, all coming as starts. This past fall, she was called up to the U.S. Women's National Team, competing for the squad's final two matches of 2019.
McCoy, the 18
th overall pick in the 2019 NWSL Draft, is prepped for her second season with Houston Dash. A member of the Jamaican National Team, McCoy closed out her Duke career as one of the most decorated Blue Devils in NCAA Tournament history, finishing second in program history in postseason play with 18 points, third with seven goals and tied seventh with four assists.
Quinn, a member of the Canadian National Team, is set to begin her third professional season. She will report to preseason camp at the end of the FIFA international window on Wednesday
Reid enters her third season in the NWSL and second with the Pride after being traded from the North Carolina Courage prior to the start of last season. The defender logged 602 minutes of action, while earning seven starts with the Pride in 2019.
Stevens is set to begin her professional career after being selected by Chicago with the 24
th overall pick in this year's draft. Last season, she tied for the team lead in points with 22, while tying for second in goals scored with eight. Her 82 career points place her sixth all-time in Duke history, while she ranks amongst the top five in program history in career goals scored (24) and career assists (34).
After spending 11 seasons as a player in the professional ranks, Moros is set to begin her coaching career as an assistant with the Sky Blue FC. Moros joins a short list of NWSL players to transition into a fulltime coaching position, after competing for multiple teams in the NWSL—the Portland Thorns, Houston Dash and Utah Royals.
