No. 10 Duke Blanks Boston College to Open ACC Slate
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The 10th-ranked Duke women's tennis team opened the 2020 ACC slate in dominant fashion with a 4-0 rout of Boston College on the road Friday evening.
With the victory, the Blue Devils improve to 8-2 overall and 1-0 in conference play as the Eagles drop to 8-3 and 0-3 in ACC action.
The Blue Devils also continue their undefeated streak against the Eagles and are now 16-0.
For the seventh time this season, the Blue Devils captured the doubles point.
Boston College was first off the court with a 6-3 win as Hailey Wilcox and Dasha Possokhova defeated Summer Dvorak and Hannah Zhao on court three. The Blue Devils answered by taking the final two courts. Chloe Beck and Kelly Chen took down No. 35 Kylie Wilcox and Yufei Long (6-3) on court one before Margaryta Bilokin and Meible Chi garnered a 6-3 court two win over Elene Tsokilauri and Laura Lopez.
Duke carried its momentum into singles action with Bilokin tallying Duke's second point of the match. Ranked No. 48 by the ITA, the sophomore took down Possokhova (6-2, 6-1) quickly on court three. With the win, Bilokin improves to 7-1 in dual action this spring.
On Duke's top court, seventh-ranked Chen played to a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Boston College's long ranked singles player, No. 90 Long. Chen elevates to 4-1 in 2020.
It was senior Chi who clinched the match for the Blue Devils on court two. Tabbed No. 80 in the latest ITA poll, Chi secured a 6-2, 6-4 win over Kylie Wilcox to continue her undefeated streak in 2020 (8-0).
Duke will return to action Sunday, Feb. 23 to take on No. 25 Syracuse at 11 a.m.
