DURHAM, N.C. – Redshirt freshman punter Porter Wilson was named to the Ray Guy Award "Ray's 4" list for Week 13, the award announced Monday.
Â
The "Ray's 4" list recognizes four collegiate punters each week. From the group of four, fans determine which punter should be named Punter of the Week by voting on the Ray Guy Award website.
Wilson, native of Fairlawn, Ohio, booted six punts for a total of 264 yards, an average of 44.0 yards per punt, against Georgia Tech on Saturday. His first punt of the evening traveled a career-long 70 yards before being downed at the Yellow Jackets 10-yard line. Wilson's second punt led to Duke's first score as it was muffed and recovered in the end zone. Overall, Wilson put four of his six punts inside the 20 and totaled -5 return yards on two returns.
Â
After not seeing game action in 2019, Wilson stepped up to become Duke's starting punter for the 2020 season. He has totaled 1,760 yards on 41 punts for an average of 42.93 yards per kick. He has impressively put 15 punts inside the 20 and boasts seven punts of 50+ yards. Wilson was named to the Freshman All-America and Ray Guy Award watch lists earlier this season.
Â
Wilson joins three others on Ray's 4 for Week 13 list – Kirk Christodoulou from Pitt, Nik Constantinou of Texas A&M and Ben Kiernan from North Carolina.
