DURHAM, N.C. – Duke University women's soccer standouts
Mia Gyau and
Olivia Migli received TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week accolades Tuesday, following helping the Blue Devils to a regular season finale victory over Miami and a narrow loss to second-ranked Florida State this past week.
With Duke's victory Sunday at Miami, the Blue Devils (6-3-2) received the No. 5 seed in the upcoming ACC Championship and will face No. 4 seed Clemson on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m., at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
Gyau, a product of Colesville, Md., earned Team of the Week honors, while Migli received Honorable Mention Team of the Week accolades on the week from TopDrawerSoccer.
A redshirt senior, Gyau played the entire 90 minutes in both matches this past week on the road. She was outstanding on defense in both matches and also pushed forward when available to get the offense going for the Blue Devils.
Gyau has started all 11 matches on the season and notched three assists, including two on the road at Syracuse. She has also helped the Blue Devils to five shutouts on the defensive end. Gyau has seen action in 895 minutes, which ranks fourth on the squad.
A freshman from of Haymarket, Va., Migli collected a career-high two goals Sunday at Miami to help lead the Blue Devils to a 3-1 victory. She notched Duke's first goal of the match in the 10th minute, which snapped a 198:20 scoreless streak for the Blue Devils. After Miami cut the Duke lead to 2-1 in the second half, less than a minute later Migli added her second goal to give the Blue Devils a bigger lead.
Migli currently leads Duke with four goals on the season, which also ranks tied for first in the ACC among other rookies in the league. She has started 4-of-11 matches for the Blue Devils and is establishing herself as one of the top young forwards in the ACC.
