Along with Shepherd on the list was Alyaa Abdulghany (USC), Isabella Fierro (Oklahoma State), Sofia Garcia (Texas Tech), Linn Grant (Arizona State), Vivian Hou (Arizona), Ellen Hume (Ole Miss), Gurleen Kaur (Baylor), Aline Krauter (Stanford), Rachel Kuehn (Wake Forest), Ingrid Lindblad (LSU), Brooke Matthews (Arkansas), Emilia Migliaccio (Wake Forest), Alessia Nobilio (UCLA), Pauline Roussin-Bouchard (South Carolina), Gabriela Ruffels (USC), Megan Schofill (Auburn), Riley Smyth (Virginia), Emma Spitz (UCLA) and Kennedy Swann (Ole Miss).
A native of Greenwood, Ind., Shepherd had a sold fall campaign winning the Golfweek Hoosier Amateur and collected two other third place finishes on the Golfweek College Series.Ā Over the summer, she advanced to the quarterfinals of the Women's Western Amateur, tied for 11th at the Michigan PGA Women's Open and won the Indiana State Amateur title. Ā
Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female U.S. Collegiate golfer.Ā The winner is decided by a vote from student-athletes, coaches and members of the golf media. Named for and presented by Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Commission to acknowledge the top female golfer at the end of the season, to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer.
Former Duke standout Leona Maguire won the ANNIKA Award on two occasions in 2015 and 2017.
