Caitlin Cosme was selected ACC Defensive Player of the Week Tuesday. She also earned TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week for the third time this year.
It marks the second time this season a Blue Devil has earned an ACC honor as junior
Marykate McGuire was selected the ACC Player of the Wek on Sept. 15.
Cosme, who hails from New Hyde Park, N.Y., played the entire 90 minutes against the Hokies on Friday in the non-conference victory. It marked the second straight shutout and third clean slate of the season for the Blue Devils, which is tied for first in the ACC. Duke's defense limited Virginia Tech to just two shots, and the Hokies did not have a shot on goal.
Cosme registered Duke's first goal of the contest against Virginia Tech, her first career game-winning tally as she connected on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to put the Blue Devils ahead, 1-0. The tri-captain has seen action in 585 minutes on the season, which ranks tied for first on the Duke squad.
On the year, Cosme has a team best three goals, which also ranks tied for sixth in the ACC. Cosme also earned TopDrawerSoccer.com honors Sept. 22 and Oct. 6.
Pitt sophomore forward Amanda West was also selected ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
Duke (3-1-2, 1-1-2 ACC) will hit the road this week for the first of five straight road matches to conclude the regular season. The Blue Devils will first face Boston College Thursday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m., live on RSN-TV.
