No. 12 Ohio State Outlasts No. 5 Duke, 4-2

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a long three-hour match, the fifth-ranked Duke women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season Friday evening on the road to 12th-ranked Ohio State, 4-2.

With the setback, the Blue Devils dip to 4-1 while the Buckeyes improve to 3-0.

For the first time this season, the Blue Devils dropped the doubles point. Chloe Beck and Kelly Chen picked up the first doubles victory with a 6-2 win over Isabelle Boulais/Kolie Allen on court one before the Buckeyes secured the two remaining courts.

Kathleen Jones/Danielle Wolf defeated Meible Chi and Hannah Zhao on court three (6-3) before Shiori Fukuda/Irina Cantos Siemers took down Margaryta Bilokin and Yasmine Mansouri (6-2) on court two.

Ohio State extended its lead into singles quickly as Kathleen Jones defeated Zhao (6-0, 6-1) on court six before another Buckeye victory on the top court. No. 11 Fukuda defeated No. 10 Chen (6-3, 6-4), handing Chen her first loss of the season.

The Blue Devils answered with their first point of the match as Bilokin secured a win on court three. Bilokin, tabbed No. 67 by the ITA, defeated Boulais (6-4, 6-2) to remain undefeated this season.

Duke pulled within one in the team scores (2-3) as No. 77 Chi outlasted No. 125 Allen (5-7, 6-1, 6-2) on court four.

It was Ohio State's Wolf who clinched the match for the Buckeyes on court two. A long three set match ultimately ended in Wolf's favor (6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (5) over Mansouri. The freshman battled back after dropping the first set and forced a competitive third set tiebreak but came up just short.

Duke will return to action Sunday, Feb. 2 to take on Illinois at 1 p.m.
