DURHAM, N.C.—Five Blue Devils were voted to the 2019 Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer All-ACC Academic Team as announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. Duke's five selections tied Virginia for the most.
Earning recognition for their success on the field and in the classroom were
Matthias Frick, Daniele Proch, Will Pulisic, Aedan Stanley and
Brandon Williamson. All five are repeat winners with Pulisic garnering notice for the third consecutive season.
Stanley is one of seven sophomores to be selected and just one of two to be recognized each of his first two seasons. Pulisic joins ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year Joe Bell of Virginia as the only two juniors to be named to the team in each of his first three seasons. Only three players on the 2020 list have collected the prestigious honor three times.
To be eligible for consideration for the team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her undergraduate and/or graduate academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
