DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team is set to kick off the 2020 season Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Penn State Duals in the White Building on the campus of Penn State. The Blue Devils are set to face off against Haverford, Penn, Penn State, Columbia, Yale and Temple beginning at 8:30 a.m.
At last year's Penn State Duals, the Blue Devil women produced a 4-2 showing with wins against Haverford (26-1), Penn (18-9) Penn State (14-13) and Yale (19-8) while the men went 2-3 with victories over Haverford (26-1) and Penn (14-13).
The women's saber squad will feature captain
Lindsay Sapienza,
Alex Gorman,
Sarah Hung and rookie
Zsofia Walter while the men will send 2019 All-American
Ping Ping Kitsiriboon,
Agoston Walter,
Ben Stone and
William Julien.
Captain and 2019 All-American
Eoin Gronningsater headlines the men's foil team along with
Brycen Rushing,
Jonathan Schwartzman and
Finn Hossfeld. For the women,
Zoe Superville,
Julia Gianneschi,
Julia Noguchi and
Ashley Lo will hit the strips.
Rounding out the Blue Devil squad is the epee squad featuring
Huda Aldadah,
Maria Papadopoulos,
Kendyl Bree and
Ava Navarro for the women.
Kevin Chao,
Bowen Wang,
Amit Sarma and
Danny Campbell III will represent the men.
Following this weekend, Duke will return to the state of Pennsylvania for the Philadelphia Invite.
