CHICAGO, Ill. – After jumping out to an early lead at the Windy City Collegiate Classic, the Duke women's golf team concluded day one in fourth overall following 36 holes at the 6,368-yard, par 72 Glen View Club in Chicago, Ill.
Florida holds the lead entering Tuesday's final round with a 10-under-par, 566, while South Carolina (567) and Southern California (568) round out the top three squads. The Blue Devils posted rounds of 286 and 288 for a two-under, 574, to come in at fourth. Arizona State (575), Virginia (581), Arizona (582), Oklahoma State (584), Vanderbilt (584) and Iowa State (585) round out the top 10 teams.
"We played good golf today," said Duke head coach
Dan Brooks. "There's plenty of opportunity to win. I saw smart, patient golf. We'll just need more of same tomorrow."
Coming off struggling in the season opener, junior
Jaravee Boonchant responded strong with back-to-back under par rounds Monday with a two-under, 70, and one-under, 71. She enters the final round in a tie for fifth with a three-under, 141. Â
Starting both rounds on hole No. 10, Boonchant played holes 10-18 at six-under-par with six birdies and no bogeys. Boonchant, a native of Bangkok, Thailand, collected a total of nine birdies during both rounds. She now owns 43 career rounds of even or under par. Â
South Carolina's Pauline Roussin-Bouchard notched rounds of 70 and 65 for a nine-under, 135, to lead the individual action.
 Junior
Miranda Wang had a solid day with rounds of 73 and 71 for an even-par, 144, which is tied for 15th. In round one, Wang notched three birdies and was even par through 17 holes, but had a bogey on hole No. 9 to finish with a 73. She opened the second round with a one-under-par ledger through 11 holes with a birdie on the 325-yard, par four 12th. Wang, who is from Beijing, China, closed the round with two birdies, two bogeys and three pars to finish with a 71. Â

Ana Belac had her putter going early as she drained birdies from 20 feet and 12 feet on holes No. 11 and No. 12 to get to two-under-par. She went on to collect 11 pars, two birdies and two bogeys to finish with a two-under-par, 70, in round one. Belac hit 14 greens, 12 fairways and had 30 putts. Â
After opening the second round with a four-over score during the first 12 holes, Belac closed strong by sinking a five-foot birdie on No. 4 and 15-footer on No. 5. She also added a seven-foot birdie on the 149-yard, par three seventh. Belac finished with a two-over, 74, and is tied for 15th overall. She hit 12 greens, nine fairways and rolled 31 putts in the second round. Â
Sophomore
Gina Kim had a slow start to her day with five bogeys over her first 11 holes, but was three-under-par over her next 25 holes. In round one, Kim collected her first birdie of the day on the 375-yard, par four fifth hole and then notched her second eagle in as many tournaments as she drained a 70-foot putt on the par five eighth. She went on to finish the first 18 holes with a 74, as she hit 11 fairways, 15 greens and had 36 putts. Â
In round two, Kim collected three birdies, three bogeys and 12 pars on her way to carding an even-par, 72. She hit 14 greens, nine fairways and registered 32 putts. Kim, who hails from Chapel Hill, N.C., is tied for 30th overall with a two-over, 146. Â
After competing in the LPGA Indy Women in Tech Championship in Indianapolis, Ind., Sept. 26-29, freshman
Erica Shepherd arrived in Chicago at 10:30 p.m., Sunday evening and had a very early wake-up call for the 36 holes on Monday. She turned in rounds of 73 and 75 and is tied for 40th with a four-over, 148. Â
Shepherd, a product of Greenwood, Ind., opened with a birdie on her first hole for the second straight tournament as she rolled in a 30-foot putt on the 426-yard, par four 10th hole. She added bogeys on No. 11 and No. 18, while parring holes 12 through 17. After a bogey on No. 1, Shepherd stuck her approach on the par three second to two feet and sank the birdie on her way to finishing with a 73. She hit 12 fairways, 15 greens and rolled 34 putts. Â
In round two, Shepherd collected four birdies, two on both the front and back nine. She also added two double-bogeys to lead to a 75 in round two. Shepherd hit 11 fairways, 14 fairways and had 33 putts. Â
Duke will tee off in Tuesday's final round beginning at 9:15 a.m. (ET) off hole No. 1 along with Arizona State and Virginia.
