Breaking Down the Blue Devils
- No. 2 Duke looks to bounce back after a tough 3-1 loss to ACC foe and No. 6 Virginia Friday night. The Blue Devils are 4-1-0 overall and playing their sixth home game of the year and fifth in the month of September.
- Senior Daniele Proch is living up to the preseason hype, scoring five goals and an assist in five games. Classmate Max Moser has been lethal off the bench recently and has four assists overall. In all, six different Duke players have a goal this season.
- Defensively, Duke has been solid in allowing just one goal in the first four games before sacrificing three against Virginia. Sergi Nus is the anchor at center back, while Ian Murphy and Hassan Pinto have manned the flanks the past three games.

- SMU comes into Durham Monday one of 14 remaining unbeaten and untied teams. The Mustangs are ranked 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches rankings with the next version set to come out Tuesday. They are coming off a convincing 6-0 blanking of Valpo Friday night.
- With a pair of 7-1 and 6-1 wins, SMU features one of the top scoring offenses in the country at a 3.8 goals per game average. Senior Eddie Munjoma paces the offense with 11 points from four goals and three assists. Garrett McLaughlin also has four goals, while Knut Ahlander sports a team-high four assists. Ten different Mustangs have scored at least one goal this season.
- Defensively, SMU has allowed just one goal in the 450 minutes played. Grant Makela and Shane Lanson have split duties in net, playing 165 and 285 minutes, respectively. They have a combined 11 saves as the Mustangs have allowed their opponents only 44 shots all season and only 12 on frame. Most recently Talen Maples was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week. He anchored a backline that allowed one goal in two games and shutting out Saint Louis and adding a goal.

- Duke and SMU meet for the seventh time Monday night. The Mustangs hold the lead in the series, going 4-2-1, including the most recent win in Dallas in 2014.
- The Blue Devils are 0-2-1 in Durham against SMU, but have only played twice since 1996. The Mustangs defeated Duke at Koskinen in the 2011 Duke Nike Classic.
