DURHAM, N.C.—Four goals in two games will make people take notice.
Daniele Proch is proof of that as the Duke senior collected two more Team of the Week honors after being named ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
Proch was voted to both the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week following his weekend showing against Ivy League foes Princeton and Harvard.
A Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree, Proch shined in the Blue Devils' ACC Network debut against Princeton Friday afternoon, scoring what proved to be the game winner and adding a security goal in a 4-0 victory over the Tigers. The Riva Del Garda, Italy native turned on one Princeton defender and then beat another with a deft touch before sliding a left-footed shot past the Princeton goalie to put Duke up 1-0. In the 80th minute, Proch finished a rebound on a penalty kick saved by the Tiger keeper to make it 3-0.
Two days later, Proch had his best finish of the young season as he one-timed a service with the outside of his left foot into the right corner to give Duke the 2-0 lead against Harvard. Again late in the game, the senior captain came back on the field and drew a penalty kick, which he fired past the Crimson goalie for the 3-0 win at Koskinen.
With five goals on the year, Proch leads the ACC and is second nationally in total goals. His 1.25 goals per game average is second in the league and eighth among Division I men's players. He also leads the ACC and is third in the nation in total points with 10. He has scored a brace four times in his two-plus seasons with the Blue Devils.
The second-ranked Blue Devils are 4-0-0 on the year with a pair of wins over 2018 NCAA Tournament teams. Duke will open ACC play against sixth-ranked Virginia this Friday, Sept. 13. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m., on ESPNU.
