
Duke Falls to NC State, 4-1

DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 49 Duke men's tennis team fell to No. 22 NC State, 4-1, at home in Ambler Tennis Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Devils fell to 10-12 overall and 4-7 in ACC play, while the Wolfpack improved to 16-9 overall and 7-4 in conference action.
In doubles play, Wolfpack duo Igor Savelijic and Ivan Savelijic defeated senior Catalin Mateas and sophomore Sean Sculley 6-3 on court two. On court one, seniors Jason Lapidus and Vincent Lin trailed 5-2 to No. 57 Alexis Galarneau and Michael Ogden. The senior pair stormed back, winning three straight games to tie it up at 5-5. Galarneau and Ogden bounced back, winning the next two and taking court one 7-5, clinching the doubles point for NC State. Juniors Spencer Furman and Robert Levine were winning 6-6 (4-1) over Georgiy Malyshev and Tadas Babelis before doubles was called.
In singles action, Malyshev put NC State up 2-0 with a court six, 6-2, 6-0 victory over junior Samir Agadi. Igor Savelijic brought the Wolfpack within one point of clinching with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Mateas on court two.
Sculley put the Blue Devils on the board with a straight-set 6-2, 6-3 win over Barkai on court four. The win was Sculley's third straight and he improved his overall dual singles record to 6-7 on the year. The Wolfpack clinched the match on court three, as Babelis prevailed over Levine 6-3, 6-4.
Duke finishes the regular season Sunday, hosting No. 29 Florida State for senior day. The Blue Devils will host NC Central at 6 p.m. following their match with the Seminoles
