DURHAM, N.C. – The rookie duo of Jalon Calhoun and Eli Pancol were honored this week as 2019 All-Freshman Team Honorable Mentions by Pro Football Focus.
Calhoun was acknowledged as a wide receiver, while Pancol garnered his honorable mention nod at tight end.
Calhoun closed out an impressive first year as he led all ACC freshmen in pass receptions with 46. That mark placed him third among Power 5 freshman wide receivers nationally. The 5-11, 185-pound Greenville, S.C., native finished ranked second in receptions, tied for fourth in touchdown receptions (four) and sixth in receiving yards (420) on Duke's freshman single-season charts.
Pancol also had a solid first season for the Blue Devils, compiling 91 yards on six catches with three touchdowns. The 6-3, 195-pound Pendleton, Ind., native recorded 20 yards rushing and one score on three carries as well.
The Duke rookie tandem combined to score seven receiving touchdowns in 12 games this season to finish tied with Georgia Tech for second on the ACC freshman duo chart single-season list.
