NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Junior
Kelly Chen's run in the singles main draw at the 2019 ITA Fall National Championships came to an end Friday evening in Newport Beach, Calif.
The Cerritos, Calif., native who is ranked No. 5 by the ITA fell to No. 17 and sixth-seeded Anna Turati of Texas in a hard-fought battle 7-6 (5), 6-7 (7), 6-4 in the quarterfinals.
Chen concludes the final event of the fall with a 14-5 overall ledger and is 5-4 against nationally ranked opponents.
Chen and the Blue Devils will open the 2020 spring slate Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Grand Canyon in Phoenix, Ariz.
