WASHINGTON, D.C. – Student-athletes and staff of the Duke women's golf program traveled to Washington D.C., this past week to be honored for NCAA Champions Day at the White House.
"It's great to be able to reward these players with a trip to the White House," said Duke head coach
Dan Brooks. "It's a pretty special thing."

The Blue Devils arrived in Washington, D.C., Thursday afternoon and toured the National Mall before meeting Duke women's basketball alumna Sue Gordon, who helped secure a private tour of the Spy Museum.
"Obviously, it was something special," commented Duke senior
Ana Belac on the visit. "Especially getting to see all of the other teams, who won the national championship last year. Being able to be at such a special place like the White House was a great experience. Seeing what it is like from the inside was special as most people just get a chance to see it on television, but we were fortunate enough to be able to see it from the inside, while getting a chance to shake hands with the President."
On Friday morning, the Blue Devils arrived at the White House and gathered in the Blue Room before meeting President Donald J. Trump. The squad toured various rooms in the White House including the Oval Office.
The visit to the White House marked the third in program history as the Blue Devils received an invitation July 12, 2005 and Sept. 21, 2007 from President George W. Bush after winning the 2005, 2006 and 2007 NCAA Championships under the direction of Brooks. Brooks has guided Duke to seven NCAA titles over his 36 years in Durham.

"It's about seeing the rewards that they get," said Brooks. "It's great to see them putting the time in, making the accomplishment and being rewarded for it. That never gets old. I always enjoy seeing them reap the benefits of their efforts."
The Blue Devils captured their seventh title this past May by defeating Wake Forest, 3-2, in match play at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
