GREENSBORO, N.C. – Another day at the NC State/GAC Invitational, another Duke swimming and diving record broken by
Alyssa Marsh. The senior from Davidson, N.C., swam a 51.05 in the 100 butterfly and captured the school record during the second day of action at the NC State/GAC Invitational. The Blue Devils wrap up day two fourth in the women's with 848.5 points and fifth in the men's with 685 points.

In the preliminaries Friday morning, the Duke program recorded Marsh's school record, nine NCAA "B" Standard times, 22 career-best times for the Blue Devils and 28 swimmers and divers in A and B Finals Friday night. Â

Marsh,
Kylie Jordan and
Rachel Peroni led the Blue Devil push in the A Final of the 100 butterfly, finishing in first, third and fifth, respectively. Marsh finished in 51.25 while Jordan touched the wall in 52.28. Peroni followed closely behind with a career-best time of 54.14.

Connie Dean recorded a season-best time of 4:11.97 in the 400 individual medley on her way to a third place finish and maintaining her "B" cut time in the event.
Cabell Ann Whitlow followed suit, placing 10th with a season-best of her own, 4:18.67. For the men,
Everett Werner recorded a season best time of 3:55.89, placing 10th.

A fifth-place finish by
Melissa Pish highlighted Duke's performance in the 200 freestyle. Pish touched the wall in 1:46.37 to clock a "B" Standard time.

In the 100 backstroke, Marsh led a trio of Blue Devils in the A Final. Marsh's 52.65 placed her third in the event, closely followed by
Emma Shuppert in fourth.
Shayna Hollander placed eighth in the event with a time of 53.95. On the men's side,
Nathaniel Hartley won the B Final with a season-best time of 47.81.

Halle Morris placed eighth in the 100 breaststroke finals, recording a career-best 1:01.67, a "B" cut time. On the men's side,
Cole Reznick paced the Blue Devils, winning the B Finals with a time of 55.36, a season-best for the Pleasanton, Calif., native.

The women's 200 medley relay team of Shuppert, Morris, Marsh and
Sarah Snyder registered a time of 1:36.66 and placed second in the finals of the event. Their time was the second-best time in Blue Devil history and below the NCAA "B" Standard. The men's quartet of Hartley,
Henry Wu,
Charlie Gingrich and Williams placed fifth with a season-best 1:27.82.

In the 800 freestyle relay, the Duke women quad of
Easop Lee, Pish,
Quinn Scannell and
Carly Perri placed sixth in the event in 7:19.26, the tenth-fastest 800 freestyle in Blue Devil history. The men's team of Williams,
Sheldon Boboff, Hartley and
David Hallaron swam a 6:33.25, placing sixth in the event and putting themselves seventh in the Blue Devil history books.

Nathaniel Hernandez led the Duke divers once again, taking the top spot in the one-meter competition. The Southlake, Texas, native scored 357.10 to win the event. In the women's three-meter competition,
Kate Mullin led the trio of Blue Devils that appeared in the finals finishing in fourth-place with a score of 291.15.
Lizzie Fitzpatrick and
Ellie Winslow followed close behind, placing in sixth and seventh with scores of 272.85 and 259.40, respectively. Â

The Blue Devils continue action at the NC State/GAC Invitational in Greensboro tomorrow with preliminaries in the morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. and finals in the evening at 5:30 p.m. Tomorrows events are: 1,650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 10-meter diving and the 200 freestyle relay.
