DURHAM, N.C. – The Duke fencing team received its second signee as foilist
Elisha Tan signed a National Letter of Intent to join the 2020-21 recruiting class.
Tan joins the Blue Devil family from San Diego, Calif., and currently attends Westview High School. She is a member of the Golubitsky Fencing Center under Sergei and Caro Golubitsky as a foilist.
Tan has extensive success on the national fencing circuit as well as some international experience. Her best outing to date is a sixth-place finish in the cadet event at the 2018 October North American Cup (NAC). At the November NAC, Tan finished seventh in cadets before earning a 13th-place finish in cadets at the 2019 Junior Olympics.
Tan was also a member of the USA cadet travel team for the 2018-19 season and helped earn a third-place finish in the team event of the 2018 European Cadet Circuit event in Moedling, Austria.
The Blue Devils will open the 2020 slate Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Penn State Duals in State College, Pa.
